ROD graduate engineer, Sean Bartlett, has recently begun a six-month internship with Europengineers-member, Schüßler-Plan. The internship forms part of the Europengineers trainee programme, which aims to provide university graduates with the opportunity to work abroad in one of the eight Europengineers member companies at the start of their professional careers.

The trainee programme is one of three internship opportunities available to engineering staff within the member companies. The talent programme offers engineers with two to three years’ professional experience the opportunity to work abroad for up to two years on a member company’s projects while the expert programme is designed for subject-matter experts who would like to spend up to six months with a member company, sharing their expertise and being inspired by their international peers.

Schüßler-Plan is a highly respected German engineering company with an extensive portfolio that includes buildings, roads, bridges, tunnels, rail, airports and research projects. With over 1200 employees and 22 locations, it will certainly be a different experience for Sean in terms of the sheer scale of the company. ROD and Schüßler-Plan share a similar ethos, however, in that we are both independent, multidisciplinary firms, focused on delivering the best solution for our clients.

Sean brings with him a strong base of professional skills and experience, which he developed while undertaking our two-year graduate programme at ROD. He has worked across several ROD groups, including transportation, water and buildings, and learned how to collaborate effectively on projects. Prior to joining ROD, he completed an ME in Structural Engineering with Architecture at University College Dublin in 2021.

Over the next six months, Sean will gain experience working within Schüßler-Plan's diverse teams, improve his German language skills and immerse himself in a new culture. He will be fully supported by the Europengineers network during his internship, with accommodation and a public transport ticket among several supports available to him. Wir wünschen ihm viel erfolg.
