Ernest Etim, a graduate engineer with Roughan & O'Donovan, was recently interviewed by The Sunday Times for an article titled, 'Let Stem help your dream job blossom'.
Etim described how his father sowed the seeds for his career in engineering when, after expressing an early interest in becoming a pilot, he suggested that instead of learning how to fly a plane, Etim should consider learning how to build a plane.
I wanted to do something that would have an impact on people’s lives. For me at the time, piloting was just something I wanted to do, but if I want to leave a mark, I think I made the right choice.
After completing a degree in civil engineering at Nottingham University, followed by a master’s in structural engineering with construction management at Nottingham Trent University, Etim went on to complete a postgraduate diploma in sustainable energy at Trinity College Dublin.
Etim is now in his second year of Roughan & O'Donovan's graduate development programme. Watch the video to hear what he and his fellow graduate engineers have to say about the benefits of joining the programme.
