Irish Rail has appointed Roughan & O'Donovan and ROD-IS to provide full consultancy services for the development of remote monitoring systems for its infrastructure assets.
The systems will provide Irish Rail with better visibility of its assets, improving safety, increasing reliability, and resulting in more efficient operations and maintenance.
A total of 312 assets, including 103 bridges, will be monitored. Monitoring categories include:
- Flooding
- Bridge strike
- Structural failure
- Cutting failure
- Embankment slip
- Climate
