The Health Service Executive (HSE) has appointed Roughan & O’Donovan (ROD) to act as both civil and structural designer and technical advisor (TA) for Public Private Partnership (PPP) set to deliver community nursing units (CNUs) across Ireland.
In our capacity as civil and structural TA, ROD will oversee, manage and verify the delivery of the civil and structural design team (DT) to ensure the development of all the CNUs is co-ordinated at a national level. All DT design disciplines will be implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM).
ROD will also provide TA services to the HSE during the PPP competition, including the consultation/dialogue period when technical matters will be reviewed.
The PPP forms part of anticipated expenditure for health sector PPP projects with a capital value of €150m, as announced in ‘Building on Recovery: Infrastructure and Capital Development 2016-2021’.
It is intended that the main PPP project will be procured under the direction of the HSE in collaboration with the National Development Finance Agency (NDFA).
An initial list of proposed locations for the CNUs includes Letterkenny, Galway, Midleton, Killarney, Cork, Clonmel, Thomastown, Dungarvan, Ardee, Athlone and Dublin.
