Summary
Roughan & O’Donovan undertook the redesign and improvement of the Boghall road cycle route to bring it to a Level B quality of service.
Solution
We carried out an initial route audit and evaluation of the existing cycle infrastructure and conditions before producing a number of preliminary options for the upgrade works along the route.
After agreeing a preferred scheme with Bray Town Council, we produced a full set of detailed design drawings.
Our solution involved upgrading all the crossing points and junctions along the route and bringing them into line with the National Cycle Manual.
We proposed upgrading an existing roundabout on the Vevay Road to a cycle-friendly type and providing the Killarney Road junction with cycle signals, in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations of 2011.
Challenge
Finding a smart solution to the various transport and movement problems along the route provided the key challenge.
