Summary
ROD provided civil and structural engineering design and construction supervision services for this 10-unit development in Mountmellick, Co. Laois.
The design team included OBFA Architects and Varming Consulting Engineers (M&E).
Breencore LTD. was the main contractor.
Solution
The scheme’s 10 two-storey dwellings were delivered as an extension to the existing Pattison Estate in the village of Mountmellick. The works included estate roadways, pavements, boundary treatments and associated site works.
To maximise the use of available space, the development comprises two terraces of five units, located on a long, linear site, adjacent to the River Triogue.
The project team incorporated several sustainable urban drainage (SuDS) systems measures in the design, including off-road parking on permeable paving slabs and green areas to the front and rear of each dwelling.
The development design also includes flood protection measures to allay the risk of flood water from the river accessing the development.
