Summary
Phase one of the regeneration of St. Teresa’s Gardens, a 346-unit complex constructed in the early 1950s, involved the development of 54 new homes, comprising 38 houses and 16 apartments.
As employer’s representative on the scheme, Roughan & O’Donovan led the administration of the public works contract on the council’s behalf and acted as the main point of contact with the scheme contractor, Purcell Construction Ltd.
Our responsibility was to ensure that the projects were fully compliant with the requirements of the public works contracts and to deliver clear cost control and high-quality solutions for our client.
The project was completed in early 2021.
Challenge
Contaminated material on-site provided a significant test for the project team. The team designers, however, developed a solution to allow most of this material to be dealt with in-situ, avoiding the additional challenges and costs associated with removal off-site.
