Roughan & O’Donovan (ROD) has appointed Marc Jones as managing director, succeeding Jim Thorpe, who has retired from the company. Aonghus O’Keeffe will succeed Marc Jones as company secretary.
Harry Meighan, Chairman, commented: “We are delighted Marc has taken on the challenge of managing director. Marc first came to Ireland from the UK in 1998, joining us from Maunsell, as Jim had done before him. Marc is a hugely talented engineer who knows the business extremely well, having served as director since 2006 and company secretary since 2021.
Marc has a track record of delivering outstanding results, including as project director on all our major roads projects in Northern Ireland. Under his leadership, we are confident the executive team will continue to drive the company forward, inspiring our people to reach new goals and delivering on our business objectives.
We thank Jim for his service to the company over 18 years as director, company secretary and managing director. His tenure as managing director since 2021 has witnessed company revenues and employee numbers reaching record levels and the opening of our newest office in Cork. We wish him a long, happy and healthy retirement."

We are also pleased to announce that Anthony Mulligan B.E., C.Eng., M.I.E.I, Dip Mgt, is our newest shareholder and has been appointed a director with the company.
Managing Director, Marc Jones, said: “Anthony originally worked with ROD as a graduate engineer from 2000 to 2002, before returning as technical director in 2022 to lead our Buildings group. Anthony has gained a wide experience over 25 years of consultancy, including in the residential, health, education, commercial and industrial sectors. We are delighted he has come on board as shareholder and director, at a time of unprecedented growth in our Buildings group”.
With Jim’s retirement, Rob McCartney will assume the leadership of our UK office in Otley and has been appointed as a director of Roughan & O’Donovan UK Limited.
