Roughan & O’Donovan supports clients in the deployment, implementation and management of intelligent transport systems (ITS) technology to optimise the efficiency and maximise the value of transport links.

We cover the whole-life stage of intelligent transport systems from initiation through the design stage, procurement process, installation, commissioning, and the subsequent operations and maintenance phase.

Our ITS specialists are experienced in the delivery of ITS systems for clients, including national traffic monitoring, bluetooth journey time management and asset and fault management/monitoring. 

We are also experienced in the management of ITS maintenance and traffic monitoring system contracts.

We have undertaken pilot studies for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) aimed at assessing emerging technologies and ITS solutions, including:

• lane control signals
• weigh-in-motion systems 
• variable message signs 

We draw on our research team's expertise in the management of the infrastructure network to provide clients with innovative solutions that align with current policies and deliver value for money.

• Design services for deployment of ITS technologies and services on a national scale or as part of interurban/urban transportation projects
• Development of bespoke contract documentation that considers the distinct nature of ITS deployment contracts and provides clients with greater cost certainty throughout the project lifecycle

• Delivery of fault and asset management systems
• Data analytics that audits the quality of data collected and extracts the key information and statistics that enable road owners to manage their networks in a more informed and efficient manner
